Transit Brainstorming Camp on the Peninsula

PALO ALTO, Calif. (KCBS)  -- A two-day "Transit Camp" drew about 100 people to Palo Alto this weekend. The participants watched slide shows and compared graphs, all with the understanding that America is running out of oil, and may be running out of money to fill up the tank and drive alone.

Tara Hunt says technology will help to get us out of the “one car-one driver” way of thinking.

”Rather than thinking that we need a whole new train system, we want people to say, ‘okay, we have this disjointed train system, how do we create maybe a website that lets people feel like it’s one continuous system,’” said Hunt.

David Schonbrunn with the transportation solutions group TRANSDEF says, “congestion pricing will move into our lives faster than you probably expect; that's where we pay more for things like parking and tolls during peak hours of congestion.”

Experts also say we could soon be paying up to five dollars per gallon for gas.
