SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- San Francisco
Mayor Gavin Newsom had some choice words for reporters at a press conference Wednesday when asked to provide personal cell phone records.
Newsom said he won't release his cell phone records even though hew was talking on the taxpayers' dime, citing a need for privacy. Then, he became sarcastic.
"I think we should go farther than just personal cell phones. We should go into personal behavior and shopping and personal decision-making. And I think we should go into the minds of politicians, too," said the mayor.
Newsom went on to propose a reality TV series starring himself, following him everywhere from the men's room to his therapist's couch.
"There's the dignity of a human being. At what point is enough enough? Are we crossing the line? And now you're saying you don't have the right to call your fiance, your mother or father or sister or brother?"
Reporters requested the phone records to determine how much contact the Mayor had with the city during the Cosco Busan oil spill. He was vacationing in Hawaii at the time.
