Stanford Grad Student Goes Missing

Mengyao Zhou

PALO ALTO, Calif. (KCBS/AP)  -- A 23-year-old graduate student, Mengyao “May” Zhou, has been missing for more than three days, university officials said.

The electrical engineering student, was last seen leaving Stanford's graduate student housing complex about 10:30 a.m. Saturday to run errands.

When she never returned, her roommate reported her missing, said Ken Bates with the university’s Department of Public Safety.

“It’s just totally out of character for May,” Bates told KCBS’ Matt Bigler, “not being in contact with anybody in any way shape or form.”

She has not called or e-mailed any friends or relatives since the weekend, Bates said, noting there is no obvious reason for her disappearance.

Zhou is described as Asian, 5’ 5” tall, weighing about 120 pounds. She was driving a silver 2006 Toyota Corolla with California license plate 5-V-F-G-4-3-0.

Anyone who may know Zhou's whereabouts is asked to call Stanford police at (650) 723-9633 or (650) 329-2413 after normal business hours.
