SARATOGA, Calif. (KCBS) -- Calling it unsightly, the city of Saratoga is considering banning chain-link fencing. It’s not a done deal yet, but the wheels are in motion to eliminate the sturdy, traditional fencing material in the trendy area.
The fence is already not allowed in the Saratoga Hills.
Bruce LaFontane is a Saratoga resident who says he hopes his fence won’t soon be against city regulations. He says he built the chain-link fence with black vinyl coating in an area that he says can’t be seen from the road.
Pete Farrel who runs Steel Fence and Supply in San Jose argues in favor of what some people refer to as cyclone fencing, because we’re running out of trees.
One Saratoga official assures residents that some fences will be “grandfathered” in if this ban does pass.
