Fees
Most people who drive older gas guzzlers are low income and cannot afford the new fuel economy cars.

gas guzzlers
gas guzzler speaks for itself. Should also pay guzzler gas price

Gas guzzer
What about the poor who can not afford? what about the business owners who need there trucks? Give a tax credit for taking public transit!

Another tax?????
Just another way the government gets more of your hard earned money. Maybe they should give tax breaks to those who ride motorcycles then.

Give me an alternative first
I would love to own something with better mileage however I pull a camping trailer to take my family on "less expensive" vacations and enjoy the outdoors. Until the automanufactures come up with a truck that gets better mileage AND can pull my trailer then paying a gas guzzler tax in my opinion doesn't seem fair. I went with a "smaller" truck as it is for better MPG (I get 20) as opposed to those than require something like an F250 for their trailers. The SUV "soccer" mom that drives a 4x4 to go work should be taxed as there are alternatives for them.

Bigger cars are harder on the roads
So they should pay more in registration fees.

Ban all SUVS!
Having lived in Europe for 1/4 of my adult life, I got to see how the USA is viewed from outside. We're seen as stupid, fat, lazy, greedy and consuming creatures that don't give an damn about anything or anyone outside of our own borders. I used to defend this country until I saw it for myself. The fact of the matter is that the US government has made lying to its citizens an artform. They put doubt in ppl's minds about global warming to the point of saying its some kind of Mulder & Scully style global conspiracy. I grew up in the 60's and my dad drove a station wagon with my older brother and my mother. We never once complained about lack of space. Now in the 21st century we feel the need to carry half of the house with us when we drive 1 mile to Costco or to the park. A family has 1 child and then suddenly goes into panic mode thinking they need to drive a tank for a false sense of security. Since Americans refuse to give us their gas monsters, situations will force them to. Gas prices have reached record levels. Consequently automakers have doubled their number of SUV commercials to compensate for declining profits.

social selfishness
Drive what you like or need for ones family this is not a Socialist State yet!
04/03/2008 7:16PM
They are already paying higher gas taxes
Because they consume more gas. But a higher registration fee would also be appropriate.

Lifted Trucks are the worse
Ban lifted trucks from the road or triple their license fee - I am tired of their headlights in my eyes at night

S#!T 4 Brains
The people with the big Cadillacs and Hummers seem to feel like they own the road. Then they get me who encounters them questioning them how much it costs them to fill up "that thing". The usual response "it takes a lot". Yeah well you bought the thing so you have no room to talk. The "poor people" is not a fair term, some people use the term to describe some people that are not well off. All the while they have 22inch rims "on the lac". Spending $500 dollars on such a useless piece of crap only to make your crap car look better. Invest the money in something worth the while. By the way fill up at ARCO.

quit being politician enablers
Gas taxes were supposed to be for road building and repair but they dipped into that for everything else. Then someone slapped their hands and said NO! Now they're short on money again and so they want to dip again. If you overspend what do you do? Keep spending? Of course not. You tighten your belt. What do politicians do? They keep spending and then they whine about not having enough money. Then they pit rich against poor, so-called gas guzzlers against alleged green saints. Suddenly we're voting for more money to these same politicians so they can spend more and mismanage more. Wake up fools!

Gas Guzzler Tax
When I bought my SUV I paid a gas tax. A car will not pull my boat or take me hunting and skiing. People do not have to use an SUV for taking the kids to school but there is a reason to have one without bing taxed.

Too Much Green
The pendulum has swung too far to the left. This isn't an issue of big cars vs. little cars, so much as Pope Al Gore the First's "green disciples" have run rampant and are trying to force their agendas down the rest of our throats. If it isn't people trying to get us out of cars that are solid and look good and into those whimpy Toyota Priuses (that look like crap..and I'd be embarassed to be seen in one), they're telling us what light bulbs to use in our house, and when we can and cannot burn wood in our fireplaces! Enough all ready! "Green" is a lifestyle choice, it should not be a mandate. It's like religion. If you want to follow a particular doctrine, than fine, but don't force others to follow. As I told everyone back in 2000, Al Gore is probably the most dangerous man in the world, because he has cohersed a whole cadre of people to follow him and his self-serving ideals. I am not a big supporter of George Bush, but I'm sure glad Al Green Gore didn't win, as we would all be in trouble-- he would have outlawed the car.

Irresponsible Media
The people I blame most for this "green movement" are media outlets like KCBS Radio. I listen to a lot of KCBS each day out on the road on my job, and it seems they go out of their way to look for "green" news stories to share. KCBS needs to be more responsible than merely catering to trendy news stories. Your job as a radio station is to report the news, not try to shape people's minds based on the news you choose to share. SHAME ON YOU! Who cares that a business owner in San Jose switched all his incandescent bulbs to compact flouresant? That's news. What if I switched all my bulbs to the same one's that they use at A.T.&T.park to light the field-- because I feel like not being green? Would that be news? KCBS, get off your high horse. It's your job to report news, not prioritize news by deciding what's trendy and not trendy. Maybe if you purposely didn't bring "green stories" to the forefront, we wouldn't have all these left-wing wackos trying to tell the rest of us how we should live our lives.

If Congress won't act
We need higher gas mileage standards. If higher fees for gas guzzlers is the only way to achieve the same goal, then I'm for it.

Blame Blame Blame
I posted SH!T 4 Brains and since my comments I have read nothing but blaming one thing for another. Al Gore, KCBS, who gives a damn the question is simply about gas guzzlers. I saw two people driving two different hummers. They got a little gesture from me. :p

Go somewhere else
Most people need their trucks/SUV to haul their kids, grocery shopping and do not forget strollers. Small car do not work at all. Adding tax will only hit the family (just because they have kids) with another tax. You should add tax to the people do not resister their car or those with a red sticker with a number of the month behind their window. I see that allot and people is getting away paying.
