THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS
 (PG-13)

How good does this sound:  George Clooney, Kevin Spacey (two actors I could watch in anything!) Jeff Bridges, Ewan McGregor and an interesting, apparently somewhat true story about the U.S. government involved in mind control experiments?  Based on John Ronson's book, the tale is about the Army's New Age exploration of extra sensory techniques
A CHRISTMAS CAROL
  (PG)

Director Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Who Framed Roger Rabbit) does know how to tell a story.  In this case he adapts and directs this re-telling of this Dickens' classic.  Scrooge (Jim Carrey) is a miser, about to go through self-redemption with the help of three ghosts.  This 3-D motion capture film caught me by surprise since I was not a

WALT AND EL GRUPO
 (not rated)

AMELIA
 (PG)

I was lucky to have parents who gave me books about accomplished American women, driving home the point early that women and girls can do anything as long as they dream big and work hard.  Amelia Earhart was one of the shining lights. Now comes a movie that casts Hilary Swank as the famous aviatrix, costarring Richard Gere.  The movie is titled
