We live in a time where GOD is LOVE not punishment inclusive not exclusive. God has blessed America with a Government that supports rights for all!! Wake up look around and be Grateful for what we have!! It was 1948 when Califormnia took the lead on allowing inter-racial marriage. And now CA takes the lead again on doing what is Just, equal, and right. The religous right could better use thier money to help thier local communities fight dispear and proverty rather than spending billions of dollars fighting a very small minority of people wanting to live in peace.

Is there no shame left in people who abuse the Bible to support their own prejudice? The Bible says nothing - anywhere - about loving, committed, monogamous, same-sex relationships. Given all of the infidelity and divorce in heterosexual couples, perhaps people should clean up their own houses before judging others. Furthermore, this nation was founded by individuals fleeing from religious persecution, so no matter how strongly anyone believes in their particular holy documents, they do NOT belong in our government.

What%u2019s next? Is there intention to sue God and Mother Nature for not offering them the same biological rights as a man and women being married? You know, having a child!.

Congrats to us all that our state has finally gotten out of the religion business! Marriage is a religious concept best left to the churches. Common sense spoke today to allow all citizens equal status before our government.

Here is prima facie evidence that Same Sex Marriage saves lives: 1) Even the religious far right has to admit that Marriage prompts monogamy. 2) One can not conclude much for specific cases, but statistically monogamy definitely helps prevent Aids and other sexually transmitted diseases. 3) It immediately follows that Allowing Gay Marriage will save lives.

It's interesting how you parenthetically translated the word "fear" to "respect" to make your point. Fear ajnd respect have nothing to do with each other. Fear can best be described as false respect. Fortunately, our Supreme Court recognized that we have a civil government, not a religious one.

This is the inevitable outcome of a long battle. When are people going to realize the marriage is both a sacramental issue as well as a civil one? Under the law, everyone should have the right to marry, no matter what the sexual orientation. Churches have the right to ban whatever they want so long as they don't invade a person's civil rights. But the churches should only affect their members. They can always excommunicate someone...so let them and we'll see who cares about their bigotry!

It is common sense that, people have a right to make friends -- they can make friends with whoever they want. But when you talk about marriage, you talk about making a "family". A family is one which can have and raise children. Adopting is not equivalent, since you could say, I am marrying an animal, and we are adopting a human/animal child, which is stupid. Hence the capability of biologically having a child is important, for a 'family' to be called a 'family'. If you like a person who is the same sex as you, please do live with him all your life. But what is the point of calling it a "marriage", and a "family"? You will say -- whats the problem with that? I will tell you: when the new generation teenagers will read/hear/see that they could marriage either sex -- all the normal, natural views regarding relationships will take flip turn -- and half of the people will end up marrying in the same sex. This will cause, lack of children, and hugely incorrect gender ratios, and then you will see a new generation of America, having no natural kids. Then America will perish, culturally, and economically.

Our word for respect is a frail comparison to its Hebrew and Greek equivalent. This type of fear is not that of being afraid or terrified, other than being fearful of God%u2019s wrath (Romans 3). It is intense respect, reverence, and awe towards God. Thus, "fear" is used instead of "respect" or "reverence" in most English translations. Proverbs tells us the opposite of the fear of God is to be a fool! These are the reprobates in Romans, chapter one, who trust in themselves and not God, who hate knowledge and correction. They seek distortion and destruction of others and themselves. They stir others to strife and contention, the opposite of what we are to do on this earth (Prov. 1:22; 1:31-23; 5:12; 12:1; 14:1; 11; 20:3; 28:26; 29:11)! Our founding fathers of this country understood this. That is why the core precepts of our government and it laws are built on biblical principles. That is why the Ten Commandments are displayed over the front entrance of the U.S. Supreme Court Building, engraved on its doors, and is present on the wall behind the Supreme Court Justices. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is a loving God, AND He is a just and a jealous God. Reject Him and His Word -- do whatever is right in your own eyes... change laws to suite the swaying cultural wind of the day -- and you will regret it... eternally.

People who support gay-marriages make these same arguments over and over again, and here are my answers to them: 1) If you dont like same-sex marriage, dont do it! This argument is ridiculous, since if it were rational, then no laws could ever have been made. People can only control themselves by default, but millenniums ago people came together to form societies so that they could live together and decide on some common laws that make sense, and are agreed on by most people, and then enforced on the whole society. Like murder is wrong. They didnt think, if somebody thinks murder is wrong, he should not do it. Or child-sex for example, both the adult and the child may have agreed, but we all consensually agree that a child may not be able to make his own decisions correctly and wisely. 2) They give a history where women had no voting rights, right to property, etc and then slowly the rules came to be as they are today, where equality reigns supreme. Just past rulings do not imply that any future rulings will be right. Lets decide on this now given the context of the present and the actual argument being made. Just because in the past we have become more and more liberal, it does not imply we should continue to do so without considering the current argument. 3) Gay marriage is a right! Ridiculous. Nobody is telling you to not do anything here. Nobody is telling you to not live with your same-sex friend/lover or whatever you call that relationship. The fact is actually that you are asking the society for some privileges, not that society is infringing on your rights. You can do whatever you want to -- if you want to mentally consider that you are married, please do. But "marriage" and "family" are society-supported institutions. . so if you are asking for society to consider you as married, society has its own right to evaluate according to its own rules! Until societal rule is changed, gay marriage is not a right! Now my own arguments: 1) Biology: As humans, only heterosexual couples can have children. Our society should view "marriage" and "family" as a group which can have and raise children, and have a lasting growth of relationships. This serves as an institution which represents our very meaning of life -- the very way we have reached this stage, the very way we grow ourselves, the very way we live. 2) Impact on children: As the next generation teenagers grow -- they will study at school that marriage can be both hetero and homosexual. They will see gay couples around in the society. And this will cause them to choose their own mate in either sex. This will cause a lot of emotional problems and relationship issues. The whole way we related to each other way will collapse. Although this is not a critical problem, since it will stabilize in some way or the other, what is a problem is that, half of these kids might end up in a gay marriage. Which will immediately cause half of the population of the new generation in the country to be infertile. This will raise very serious issues to the country -- ranging from social, sociological, to the economical, and to America's ability to retain its title as superpower. More arguments could be made, but these are ones that come up at the top of my mind, and with the time I have.

I though the people of Calif. already disapproved same sex marriage. What's the purpose in voting when things like this happens! Makes me sick.

the supreme courts made their decision, Mayor Gavin Newosome spoke out in a super excitement as if he was to become a husband or a wife to one of the. Being gay is a personal choice and nobody can take away that choice but it is the court's duty to enforce the law that protect the society from abnormal and destructive behaviors. In nature, all living organisms were created as males and females and the process of building legitmate families among the human race required a legal bonding between a male and a female with hope breeding to save the human race from extinction. When the court legalizes the marriage between same sex people it actually legalizes the sexual abuse among same sex which is the factor behind having too many gay people in the USA. No, one denies that some people were born with some opposite sex characterstics but that doesn't mean they are a fair game to the abuser of the same sex. Finally, I think all gays including Mayor Gavin know where GOD stand regarding this issue.

I find this ruling to be strange in that it allows a man have a sexual relationship with another man by way marriage but in the same time they ban mormons and others from having a legitimate marriage to more than one women. I think Gay and Lesbian group will be asking the court to allow them to adopt kids. Can you imagine 2 men one acts as a husband and the other would be carrying the baby as a normal mother would ( they know they are fooling themselves. Marriage has and will always be between 2 of opposite sex of the same species

If two people are truly in love with each other, and plan to be together for life, then I feel it's absolutely acceptable for them get married, regardless of their sexual orientation. Three cheers for the CA. Supreme Court!

normal to you, isn't necessarily normal to others. it's all in the way we were brought up. some have tolerance of those who are different from us, then there are those who have hatred and narrowmindedness in their lives. love is love. a family can be a group of friends who have lost their parents at an early age, have no blood relatives in the area, and decide to live together in one household. they can call each other family..they support each other emotionally, and look out for each other. in a way, i think this country needs more lasting relationships, wether they be hetero or homosexual, and people do need to stop having children!! it the explosion of population that leads to food shortages, global warming, and all of the other environmental damages happening each and every day. the more we hate, the further apart we become as a nation. marriage is only a word. and like i said before, love is love, no matter who the person is.

This is NOT a religious issue -- it's a matter of equality and justice. The Constitution of the State of California says we are ALL equal. The religious nuts find it necessary to quote the Bible so as to justify their own bigotry. Why not quote "The DaVinci Code" or "Silence of the Lambs" or "Horton Hears a Who?" Simple. It has no bearing on the Supreme Court's decision. I'm glad for gay people. The same ridiculous rhetoric was spewed by people who said it was a sin for blacks and whites to marry.

Do you realize what this means? Other states will follow California in this decision. Remember we were the first to allow interracial marriages. Virginia was the last to allow it in 1967. There will be more resistance to this issue, but it WILL eventually be a fact of life after we are gone.

I don%u2019t understand why there can%u2019t be a compromise to give religious and non-religious people both their rights? America is for Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness is it not? America is the land of the great because we are united and divided yet we are able to coexist peacefully as one because we value equality and justice that is carried on created by our forefathers who set out to live as a democracy. Homosexuality is freedom of choice and a person%u2019s right, just as a person who chooses not to be a homosexual. People who believe in a religion have a right to be given their freedom of belief as with people who have the right not to be associated with religion. Rather it%u2019s giving people freedom to honor their beliefs, customs, or religion separate from the State or Law. Just like cars, motorcycles, and recreational vehicles. They all have to be registered and licensed and they all have their own separate forms and categories and stickers. Yet they get to keep their identity and share the same road.

Our Supreme Court has done exactly what a court was meant to do - protect the rights of the minority. This is why we have more than one branch of government. The legislative branch supports the rights of the majority. It is left to the courts to protect the persecuted minorities. I am shocked by the hatred spewed by the so-called "religious" groups. I've seen nothing in the Bible that makes these individuals the morality police. This was a courageous decision by the court - and the only legally correct decision possible.

It's a little-discussed fact that Mayor Newsom's dad is a gay ex-judge (what a surprise!). Is it any wonder his confused son is pushing us over the cliff!

Did I miss the vote on this? Did the legislature pass a law making this possible? How can a court make laws? Whether it is abortion or gay marriage, it sure seems that society would be better served by having these issues decided by a vote rather than by judicial fiat. This method subverts our constitutional process and ensures endless rancour and debate. But, if you put it to a vote, most people will recognize that the majority of their fellow citizens want or don't want something.

Can I now marry my daughter? Can I marry two women? Can I marry my horse? Absent some underlying structure (morality?), how do we decide where to draw lines?

How many here have actually read the reasoning behind the court's decision? They've addressed all of the issues brought up. Guess I'll have to address the mis-information. First off, we live in a Republic, not a Democracy. There is a difference. Most major civil rights decisions have been decided by the court, not by popular vote. If it was otherwise, it's very likely that African Americans and women would still not have the vote. Second, there is a big difference between same-sex marriage and polygamy. Just look at recent events in Texas to see why. And if you insist on including human/animal marriages in the same category as either same-sex marriage or polygamy, then you need to go back to school and re-take biology, psychology, sociology, etc, until you understand the difference between humans and animals. Third, how is gay marriage directly or indirectly harming you or your marriage? Can you cite one piece of evidence proving it does? Fourth, if marriage is for procreation only, then we better start nullifying marriage between senior citizens. Your parents (if your mom's past menopause) need to get divorced, under this logic. Same goes for women with hystorectomies, or impotent men- they shouldn't get married in the first place. Fifth, marriage is a civil ceremony as much as a religious one. Every society, regardless of religion, has a marriage ceremony for its citizens. So by including religion in the argument, you're also saying that Wiccans, Bhuddists, Muslims, athiests, etc. should not be allowed to get married, either. Finally, I'm wasting my breath, because anyone who's against gay marriage isn't going to bother to read this whole post anyway.
