VALLEJO, Calif. (KCBS) -- Solano County Supervisors are scheduled to vote today on whether to create a $250,000 public health clinic.
Staff is recommending that the Board of Supervisors approve the spending for La Clinica de la Raza to provide health care access for the poor.
County records show a 13 percent increase in emergency room visits over the last seven years, nearly 80 percent of which were classified as non-urgent.
It's clear low income residents are using the emergency room for primary health care, said Jane Garcia of La Clinica de la Raza. Creating a new clinic would ease the pressure on emergency services, she said.
