MARTINEZ, Calif. (KCBS) -- The nation’s largest automated child support system is now up and running in California, which means fewer child support payments will fall through the cracks, according to officials.
It was a monumental task to link all of California’s 58 counties into one automated child support system, said Linda Dippel, the director of Contra Costa’s Child Support Services Department. The new technology allows for significantly improved tracking of cases statewide, Dippel said.
Now that the system is up and running, the state is getting a federal rebate of $193 million.
