San Franciscans Try the "Low Car Diet"

\"\"SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)  -- More than 20 Bay Area residents will be experiencing life without their own vehicle by taking part in the "low car diet."

For example, Wilson Ling of San Francisco plans to lower the stress level, taking MUNI, bicycling and using a Zipcar, which is sort of a shared vehicle.

"I\'ll relax and listen to music. If I want I can read a book," said Ling.

While Rusty Carlson of Alameda will mostly walk, or ride her bicycle. She\'d said she would like to give up her S.U.V. altogether, adding that she hates it and figures it costs her at least $700 a month.

"But the biggest thing I\'m worried about is of course, groceries, and transporting my child," said Carlson.

Those taking part in the one month experiment receive credit toward a Zipcar, as well as free transit passes.
