BERKELEY, Ca. (AP) -- Two more temblors rated "microearthquakes" Friday evening by the U.S. Geological Survey followed a magnitude 3.4 event centered in Alameda County.
No damage was reported in the first earthquake of the day, which struck at 3:46 p.m. and was centered 2 miles east-southeast of Berkeley, according to a seismologist.
Bay Area Rapid Transit stopped for a moment in order for operators to assess the damage, according to spokesman Linton Johnson. Officials felt the earthquake, stopped the cars for about ten minutes, checked for damage and continued service at a slower rate, he said.
Then at 7:20 p.m., a magnitude 1.9 microearthquake occurred with an epicenter two miles east of Berkeley.
The third temblor came at 9:05 p.m. The magnitude 2.2 event was given an epicenter one mile east of Danville.
