LAFAYETTE, Calif. (KCBS) -- More crosses are being added to the controversial Lafayette Iraq war memorial on a hill across from the city’s BART station. Within two weeks volunteers plan to have a marker for every single American killed in the war so far.
"People drive up and are very thankful and a certain number of people just start breaking down and shedding tears right there because it just has a powerful effect on them," said volunteer Jeff Heaton.
However, not everyone is happy about the symbolic cemetery. Some are moved to anger by the display.
