SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KCBS)  -- Most Bay Area drivers are reticent to buy into the FasTrak Program, according to a study by San Francisco State University.

Only 40 percent of regular commuters have the electronic toll system devices in their cars, said Sanjit Sengupta, professor of marketing at the university. That's compared with around 70 percent of motorists on toll bridges in New York, New Jersey and Illinois.

The study suggested that transportation officials should offer permanent discounts if they want to increase use of electronic tolls.
