SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- An in-depth look at athletes around the world shows a universal response to winning: the urge to strut.
Scientists at the University of British Columbia and a psychology professor from San Francisco State University studied thousands of photographs taken during past Olympic and Paralympic Games and found some form of "victory dance" common in all of them.
It turns out those on the losing end have their own body language. The dejected-looking slumped shoulders and narrowed chests also appear to be instinctive, except in Western cultures where players are taught to maintain a brave face.
