VALLEJO, Calif. (KCBS) -- Residents of a Vallejo neighborhood spoke out Monday against vandals who targeted signs opposing Proposition 8.
Twelve anti-Prop 8 signs have been removed in the Valle Vista neighborhood, making some residents nervous.
"The first thing that goes through your mind is, 'is this the beginning of hate crimes in Vallejo' and we don't want that in our community," said a man who only wished to be identified as "Paul." He's lived in the neighborhood with his partner for five years.
But those who support Proposition 8, a ballot measure that would change California's constitution to outlaw gay marriage, aren't immune to vandalism, either.
A Danville man who put up 17 signs in San Ramon also said his signs had been removed.
