Schwarzenegger Adds to Reward Money for Information in Hayward Drive-By
|
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of suspects in the Hayward drive-by shooting last month that killed a four-year-old girl and left her four-year-old cousin in critical condition.
The money will come from the state general fund and be added to a $16,500 privately funded reward.
"Governor Schwarzenegger believes that the murderer of this four-year-old girl must be brought to justice. We encourage anyone with information to come forward so we can help solve this terrible crime and provide closure to the families and the community," said Bill Maile, a spokesman for the governor.
The March 5 shooting is thought to be gang-related and police believe the house was targeted. That evening seven adults and three children were in the front yard when a dark colored sedan drove by and three men opened fire. All three children were hit by bullets. The two four-year-olds were hit in the head, and a young boy’s ear was grazed. None of the adults were hit.
Datasha Wilson died in the hospital three days after the shooting and her cousin, Tatiana Coria, remains on life support.
Anyone with information is urged to call (510) 293-7197 or (866) 460-1493. Anonymous tips can be left at both numbers.
