SAN JOSE, Calif. (KCBS) -- Customers of the Santa Clara Valley Water District may face mandatory water rationing next year depending on what kind of rainy season we see, according to district officials.
The South Bay is nearing the end of its second dry year, which finds reservoirs at 47-percent capacity, said Keith Woodman, the district's supply manager. State water supplies from the Delta to the district are also expected to be cut sharply next near - by as much as a third, he said.
The only way to avoid rationing at this point is if the Bay Area sees at least an average winter for rainfall. Otherwise, residents are asked to continue to conserve.
