Dr. Daniel Amen is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at U.C. Irvine, and says stress can really take its toll on your brain, and your body. He adds that thanks to our current fiscal state, there's real cause for concern right now.
"If in October you lost a third of your net worth, that level of anxiety is clearly bad," said Amen.
He says the holidays and cold weather can also contribute to depression and other mind ailments.
"There's now becoming an epidemic of Vitamin D deficiencies, which are associated with seasonal mood disorders and pain problems," said Amen.
He says the cure is get outside, and spend less time watching TV, or on the computer. Sunlight spurs the body to make more Vitamin D. Dr. Amen also says exercise, and eating right will do wonders for your outlook.
