SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Five people were arrested and arraigned Thursday on drug and gun charges after a series of coordinated raids carried out by federal authorities and police in both cities.
A spokesman for the FBI said a total of eight locations were raided, including one in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley neighborhood near the corner of Webster and Fell streets.
A federal magistrate ordered all five suspects held without bail on charges that include conspiracy and distributing crack cocaine at three federally owned housing projects in San Francisco.
One of the suspects is pregnant.
The U.S. Attorney said in court that several of the suspects have previous convictions for narcotics violations.
Another hearing in the case is scheduled for later this month.
The raids appear similar in scope to stings against two Richmond gangs in November that netted about three dozen suspects on drug and weapon charges.
The FBI spokesman declined to comment on whether this investigation had any connection to those targeting the Deep C and Project Trojan gangs.
