SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- In an effort to boost the number of African Americans attending college, more than 40 churches in Northern California will participate in Super Sunday, a massive college recruiting campaign hosted by the California State University system.
Started in 2005, the campaign began as a way for Cal State to connect with and inform African American students and their families about the education requirements and financial aid opportunities available to students. Since then, undergraduate enrollment by African American students has increased by 20 percent.
KCBS’ Mike Colgan reports
This year’s event is scheduled for Sunday, February 15. For a complete list of churches participating in Northern California, visit their website at www.calstate.edu/supersunday.
