SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- The number of robberies on Muni buses and street cars has risen sharply in recent months, according to San Francisco police.
Fifty-seven robberies were reported the last three months of 2008; 30 more than the same period the year before.
Supervisor David Campos is not surprised. "I speak as someone who was actually mugged over an iPhone riding a Muni bus," said Campos.
The most sought after items were iPods, iPhones, and laptops, said Muni spokeswman Judson True. He urged people to be aware of their surroundings instead of being distracted by their electronics.
