SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- There are no confirmed cases of swine flu in San Francisco, but city health officials say it's only a matter of time.
Dr. Mitch Katz, director of the San Francisco Department of Public Health, is asking the public to remain calm as more cases are confirmed in California.
The city is well positioned to treat anyone who is infected with the new strain of influenza with enough medication on hand to handle a city-wide outbreak, said Katz. "Were this to become a more serious epidemic, we could dispense that rapidly," he said.

Mayor Gavin Newsom said there was no need to panic even though the virus is expected to show up here. "Eventually, someone will come forward. No question, you're going to see a lot more cases. That's the nature of any kind of flu," said Newsom.
People are reminded to stay home if they have flu-like symptoms. As a precaution, you should wash your hands often and cover your mouth with your sleeve when coughing.
