OAKLAND, Calif. (KCBS) -- The mini toll plaza on the far right side of the Bay Bridge is coming down to make way for FasTrak only lanes, according to the Bay Area Toll Authority.
The work to demolish the toll booths will begin over the Labor Day weekend. A new overhead structure with toll collection equipment will be installed.
The changes are designed to ease congestion and encourage more drivers to use FasTrak, which is an electronic debit system used to pay bridge tolls.
KCBS' Holly Quan Reports
The toll authority is also considering adding more FasTrak lanes to the other bridges in the Bay Area.
