HOLBROOK, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities are trying to identify two men and two women killed when a twin-engine Beachcraft Bonanza aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from an Arizona airport.
The plane had come from Texas to Santa Rosa and was returning to Texas, according to a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration,
Ian Gregor.
“The airplane crashed on departure at 5 p.m. local time and burst into flames and tragically all four people onboard were killed,” Gregor told KCBS.
He said the plane, registered to a Texas resident, was headed from Holbrook, Arizona to Lago, Texas (near Austin) when it went down about a quarter mile from the airport.
Authorities in Navajo County, Arizona said the pilot had told airport staff he was feeling sick. It’s unclear if his illness has anything to do with the crash.
The crash is being investigated by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
