SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- BART fares go up next week whether or not there's a strike. And that’s not the only transit system asking riders to dig deeper starting next Wednesday.
Golden Gate Ferry riders will pay 40 cents more for a single cash fare. Riders who pay with Translink cards will shell out 20 cents more. That hike is part of a pre-established five year plan.
KCBS' Holly Quan reports
SamTrans went in February, just a month after Caltrain raised its fares. And watch out. A spokeswoman for Caltrain said the board will vote July 2 on whether to raise rates on special passes and parking fees. Trains may also run once an hour instead of every half hour during the middle of the day.
AC Transit is also looking at cutting 15 percent of its service along with its 25 cent fare hike on Wednesday, said spokesman Clarence Johnson.
San Francisco Muni is raising its cash fare to $2 and the cost of a FastPass to cover a $129 million dollar deficit.
