SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Renters and their advocates protested at San Francisco City Hall Tuesday, urging Mayor Gavin Newsom not to veto legislation that would provide renters with economic relief.
The Board of Supervisors last week approved a set of regulations that would suspend rent increases for tenants who have recently lost their jobs or have had their wages decreased by 20 percent.
The mayor has indicated he will veto the measures.

Protestors were hoping for a face to face meeting with Newsom Tuesday, but they did not get their wish.
"We've tried to meet with him. We've tried to talk with him," said Ted Gulickson of the Tenants Union. "We've been met with nothing but silence. He just totally ignores us."
The board is not expected to muster enough votes to override the mayor's veto.
