SAN JOSE (KCBS) -- Police are searching for several men wanted in connection with the kidnapping a pair of street vendors snatched off the street as they worked.
Both victims were working in the area of King and Story Roads when they were taken on June 29. Their abductors contacted the victims’ families to demand a ransom.
KCBS' Matt Bigler reports
Officer Jose Garcia said the kidnappers did make contact with the victims families, although the two men were released before any money changed hands. They were shaken after the ordeal but otherwise in good condition, he said.
Despite the superficial similarity to kidnappings that sometimes happen in Mexico, Garcia said there was no evidence yet to suggest a motive. “At this point there’s no information that it’s related to anyone in Mexico, any cartels or any gangs or anything of that nature,” he said.
Garcia said police were searching for two or three Hispanic males in their 30s, 5’10” tall, with average builds. Police are working to assemble composite sketches of the suspects.
Anyone with information regarding the kidnappings is asked to contact the San Jose Police Department.
