Caltrain Services Cut After Budget is Adopted

SAN CARLOS, Calif. (KCBS)  -- Caltrain will be cutting its midday service starting in September, this part of its adopted budget.

Christine Dunn with Caltrain and Samtrans says the price of parking will also be increasing from $2 to $3 a day and $20 to $30 a month.

Amazingly, fares will be staying the same, mostly due to the volatility in fuel prices.

"We had a $3.7 million savings in the cost of fuel that we were able to rollover from 2009 to 2010," Dunn said.

More changes are expected from the agency this fall, as 40 to 80 layoffs are anticipated, along with more service cuts and possible fee increases.
