BART Station Closed Briefly

SAN FRANCISCO -- BART's Bay Fair Station has reopened after a report of someone pointing a gun at the stop led authorities to close it temporarily.

No shots were fired, but BART spokesman Linton Johnson says as a precaution, trains were not allowed to travel through the station from about 7:55 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday while police investigated the report.

Trains from San Francisco and Richmond were forced to turn around after the Oakland Coliseum stop. Trains from Fremont were turned around at Hayward Station, and trains from Dublin were turned around at the Castro Valley Station.

The closure caused delays of about 30 minutes for some passengers.
