OAKLAND, Calif. (KCBS) -- Two pedestrians died in separate incidents involving the same Amtrak train Friday, one in Berkeley and another about two hours later in Oakland.
The No. 535 train headed from Sacramento to San Jose hit a woman trespassing on the tracks just north of the Berkeley Amtrak station around 12:20 p.m.
The train was delayed for 90 minutes while authorities investigated the crash.
The 15 passengers were allowed to re-board the train at 1:50 p.m. It made regular stops in Emeryville and Jack London Square, then struck and killed a man also trespassing on the tracks about 2:15 p.m.
After that second crash, on a section of track between 23rd Avenue and 29th Avenues in East Oakland, Amtrak canceled the train and passengers were places on shuttle busses.
The Alameda County Coroner is in the process of identifying the bodies.
None of the passengers were injured in either incident.
The incident is being investigated by Amtrak and Union Pacific police.
