SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Caltrain officials announced this week they're forming a safety task force to prevent suicides and accidents on the tracks.
The move follows four deaths on the rails in May and two more in June including apparent suicides by two students at Gunn High School in Palo Alto. During that time local transit police also stopped four other suicide attempts.

The Community Task Force On Safety will investigate new technology like surveillance cameras while identifying hot spots for suicides and accidents. The 11 member group will also look at the possibility of more effective signage and fencing and will conduct outreach in hopes of removing the stigma of suicide and depression.
In August, the committee will give presentations to the Boards of Supervisors and City Councils of communities along the Caltrain tracks.
