SAN JOSE, Calif. (KCBS) -- One firefighter was injured battling an early morning house fire in San Jose.
The two-alarm blaze was first reported around 4:15 a.m. at the home on the 6400 block of Cranbrook Court.
San Jose Fire Captain Barry Stallard says the injured firefighter was taken to a local hospital after a ladder hit his right hip.
The four people who were inside the home when the fire started managed to escape.A female occupant reported saying she was asleep when she heard the smoke alarm go off, and went down to the laundry room where she saw much of the room already on fire, Stallard said.
"Right now the home is pretty much a total loss," Stallad said. "It's a tri-level home and from top to bottom it sustained substantial damage."
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
