Investigation Into Migden Car Crash Widens
|
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- The CHP is looking into reports of a second accident involving State Senator Carole Migden on Friday.
The lawmaker was driving her SUV to a meeting in Marin County Friday morning when her cell phone rang. As Midgen reached for the phone, she took her eyes off the road and collided with the back of a Honda sedan on Highway 12 near Fairfield.
Now the CHP is looking into reports of another accident that happened before the first one, involving the center divider on eastbound I-80 near Highway 37.
"We're getting information now from the officers following up this morning that there was a second accident involving the center divider. Witnesses have her driving to the left of the number one lane and brushing against the guardrail," said Marvin Williford, the Solano area CHP spokesman.
Williford said investigators plan today to interview witnesses who came forward to report what they saw. "Several of the people who called in were concerned with the way that the vehicle was being operated, and the investigating officer is contacting the witnesses who called in to get their information," he said.
No one was injured in either accident.
