PALO ALTO, Calif. (KCBS) -- Students occupied the offices of Stanford University President John Hennessy for sevearl hours Tuesday to demand that the school take steps to ensure that clothing and other gear bearing the Stanford logo is not manufactured in sweatshops.
Eleven students began their sit-in about 11:30 a.m and was arrested about 4 p.m., according to Dan Shih, a sophomore with the group, Stanford Sweat-free Coalition.
Shih said the students have been meeting with Hennessy for months, urging him to join a nationwide anti-sweatshop watchdog organization that other colleges participate in, including UC Berkeley.
"At this point, President Hennessy has all the information he needs to act," Shih said. "We just need President Hennessy to take concrete steps toward cutting Stanford's ties with sweatshops."
Earlier in the day, more than 100 students rallied outside the president's office, some in the nude.
