Most of the others who were injured were treated at the scene. The accident occurred shortly before six o'clock when one of the trolleys slammed into an SUV stopped in front of it, pushing the SUV into the rear of another trolley.
MUNI officials say the have not determined what caused the accident, but at least one rider said the driver of the trolley that hit the SUV was talking to a passenger and was distracted at the time of the collision. The intersection of Market and Noe Streets was closed for almost three hours.
