SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KCBS) -- The Lockheed Fire in the Santa Cruz Mountains is now fully contained, according to fire officials. Firefighters completed their containment line Sunday afternoon.
More than 7,800 acres have burned and upwards of 2,000 firefighters have been deployed since the fire broke out August 12th.
Cal Fire officials said the cost of battling the fire over 11 days has been cost nearly $25.5 million dollars, which is typical for a fire of this size and intensity.
Nearly 2,400 people were evacuated from their homes in the Bonny Doon, Swanton and Davenport communities after the fire broke out though they were allowed home last weekend.
