SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Firefighters were able to rescue two residents and two dogs from a burning house in East San Jose overnight, but not everyone made it out alive.
Once the flames were extinguished, a body was discovered inside the building near where investigators suspect the fire may have began. The victim has not been identified.
KCBS' Matt Bigler reports
The one-alarm fire in the Alum Rock neighborhood was reported around 4 a.m. on Thursday. The fire was under control in about an hour.
It’s unclear whether the people evacuated from the home are relative of the victim or lived in a separate apartment.
Rescue efforts were complicated by an electrical line arcing onto a pick-up truck parked in front of the house, according to San Jose Fire Captain Scott Kounds.
Two dogs were also rescued.
Fire investigators are treating the burnt out single story house at 14170 Woodhaven Drive as crime scene.
