FREMONT, Calif. (KCBS) -- An East Bay Congressman was greeted with both cheers and jeers at a town hall meeting on health care Saturday.
Representative Pete Stark answered tough questions for over about an hour in Fremont.
And the crowd was roughly divided 50-50.
KCBS' Bob Butler Reports
"They're scared they might not be able to choose their doctor. And at least if they can go home, they still don't have to like the plan. But hopefully, they go home and say wait a minute, now I'm not scared that I can't choose my doctor," said one attendee.
Congressman Stark said he believes those who oppose the health care reform plan are politically motivated.
"I think there's an active group who would like to frustrate the health care reform ," Stark said.
But Chris Gallagher disagrees and he said he just doesn't like government intervention.
"The bigger the government gets, the higher the cost are going to be. I don't want them in my back pocket, I would prefer that they take care of interstate trade and foreign and domestic security. That's all i want the federal government for," Gallagher said.
