San Jose Police Continue Search for Craigslist Robber

San Jose, Calif. (KCBS)  -- San Jose Police are on the look out for the so-called "Craigslist Robber" who reportedly tracked down his victims by using the community website.

The suspect has struck four times in the past week using the same method of operation while targeting Craigslist users.

"He's pretending to want to sell something or buy something from these folks. He's arranging meetings with them at various spots in town in San Jose," said San Jose Police spokesman Nick Muyo.

KCBS reporter Matt Bigler says that once the suspect meets the people they are robbed at gunpoint of their cash and the items being sold. Three of the robberies happened within hours of each other last Friday.

Police are reminding anyone doing business on the website to use caution.

"Maybe bring a friend. Take some control over when and where the meeting takes place and not just let him dictate the meeting place. Pick a place that is going to make you comfortable as well," suggested Muyo.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late teens or early twenties.

Muyo says Craigslist is cooperating with the investigation.
