SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- A 19-year-old who police said is a gang member appeared in court Wednesday to face a murder charge in connection with a double killing at a San Francisco pizza parlor last weekend
Andres Siordia has been accused of one count of murder and one of attempted murder in the shooting at the Mission District pizzeria Papa Portrero's Pizza.
KCBS' Bob Melrose Reports
San Francisco police are claiming it was retaliation for a gang killing two days earlier.
But Siordia's lawyer, Rebecca Young said this could be self defense.
"According to the limited police report and discovery that I have at this time, it appears that this was a huge brawl inside a pizza parlor with many people involved in the fighting as well as many onlookers. And at least two people are seen wielding bar stools," Young said.
Siordia's formal arraignment has been put off until next week.
He is being held on $2 million bail.
