SAN JOSE, Calif. (KCBS) -- The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office has released a new sketch of a suspect in the unsolved murder of a San Jose smoke shop employee more than five years ago.
Sheriff's homicide detectives released the sketch on Tuesday after new information was obtained from a witness to the killing of 26-year-old David Ramon Cruz.
Cruz was shot and killed at about 9:30 p.m. on May 10, 2004, at the Rainbow Smoke Shop in the 1500 block of West San Carlos Street in unincorporated San Jose.
The suspect is described as an Asian or Hispanic man who was between 18 and 22 years old at the time of the murder.
He is about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build and tan or olive complexion. The suspect has a distinctive tattoo on the right side of his neck.
The case remains under investigation, and the sheriff's office hopes the new details may prompt a member of the public to come forward.
