CONCORD, Calif. (KCBS) -- Mt. Diablo High School in Concord was locked down for about 30 minutes Wednesday afternoon after a verbal altercation led to rumors about a possible gun on campus.
Concord police said the incident occurred around 2 p.m. at the school, but the rumors were never substantiated.
Police Lieutenant Garrett Voerge said after a verbal altercation between two male students, one of the students allegedly said "I'm afraid I'll get shot."
The comment spurred the lockdown of the school, but no threats were made with a gun, and no gun was ever seen or found.
The school was reopened by 2:30 p.m. and the students went home for the day. Neither student involved in the altercation was taken into custody.
