Wind Blows Out Downtown SF Window

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)  -- Winds clocked at up to 40 mph are to blame for blowing out a window in a San Francisco high rise Tuesday afternoon, according to the city’s fire department.

The window broken was at the U.S. Bank building at 1 California Street at Davis. No one was hurt by the incident, but a BART entrance was blocked off as a safety precaution while the glass was being cleaned up.

"Between the 10th and 11th floor up there, one of the windows broke in the wind. It was between the floors so they had to cut out the 10th floor and the 12th floor to get the broken pieces that have been falling on the sidewalk," said San Francisco Fire Battalion Chief Pat Gardner.

Crews also shut down part of the street while the glass shards were removed.
