WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KCBS) -- Voters have spoken, and development plans will now move forward for exclusive retailer Neiman Marcus to set up shop in Walnut Creek, where the retail store is expected to produce quite an economic windfall for the city.
KCBS’ Dave Padilla Reports
A new Neiman Marcus in Walnut Creek’s Broadway Plaza could generate anywhere from $400,000 to $600,000 annually in sales tax revenue.
”That’s just from the Neiman Marcus,” said Walnut Creek Mayor Gary Skrel. “You also have to factor in that you’ve got more people shopping and spending more money elsewhere in other shops.
The way was paved for Neiman Marcus when voters approved Measure I this week.
The 92,000 square foot store could open in the fall of 2011 or the spring of 2012.
