CLARK COUNTY, Washington (KCBS/AP) - Prosecutors in Clark County, Washington, and attorneys for Giants ace Tim Lincecum have reached an agreement for the pitcher to pay a $250 fine relating to his alleged possession of a marijuana pipe, with the drug possession charge being dropped.
Deputy District Attorney Grant Hansen tells KCBS that this is standard protocol for a first-time offender facing misdemeanor marijuana possession charges - who cooperates with police.
Washington State Patrol spokesman Steve Schatzel says Lincecum was behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz pulled over for speeding on Interstate 5 in the town of Hazel Dell on Oct. 30.
The spokesman says a marijuana pipe and 3.3 grams of pot were found.
Schatzel says that's considered a small amount for personal use, well below the maximum of 40 grams before possession is classified differently and carries a more severe penalty.
The 25-year-old All-Star starter entered a plea of not guilty through his attorney on Monday.
