SANTA CLARA CO., Calif. (KCBS) -- Silicon Valley officials said Friday that while residents did not meet water conservation goals this summer, there will be enough to maintain water levels into the next year.
While water usage was down more than 9% in July, the reduction falls short of the water district's 15% goal.

Spokesperson Susan Siravo said it's too early to tell whether residents will be asked to cut back further next year.
"We had a good storm in October that brought us about 6 - 8,000 acre feet, so that's a significant amount of water to receive so early in the season. So that was a great start, we're not sure what the future holds, though," said Siravo, who reminds homeowners to cut back the schedule on their irrigation schedules to only three days a week during the winter months.
