SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- A transformation of a block on 3rd Street in San Francisco's Bay View district is complete and ready for buyers.
Supervisor Sophie Maxwell shows her excitement as 18 affordable condos go on the market. The land was previously home to a gas station and check cashing operation at 3rd and Oakdale.

You're right in the middle of where everything is happening, yet it's quiet and calm," said Supervisor Sophie Maxwell. "This is a perfect setting."
Regina Davis with the Housing Development Corporation says the condo's truly are affordable at $159,000.
The four-story project is kitty corner to the historic Bay View Opera House.
