SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Pacific Gas and Electric announced on Friday it would cut two percent of its workforce before the end of the year.
Most of the 500 jobs lost will be management positions in the Bay Area, said PG&E spokesman David Eisenhower. He said some of the affected employees have already been notified.
Eisenhower said the privately owned utility took a number of other steps to rein in its business costs before deciding to trim its payroll, “including tightening employee-related expenses, reductions in fleet-related expenditures, reducing vendor and consultant costs.”
