Trucks are still the top-selling vehicles in the U.S. and with the economy improving their lead is likely to continue.
Our Dodge test truck is a very specialized model, designed for heavy duty and off-road escapades, so its ride is best described as choppy at low speed, but moderately smooth on the highway. Power comes from a 4.7 liter V8 of 300 horsepower coupled to a smooth automatic overdrive, so mileage is fairly good for a bulky pickup 4x4---14 to 19.
Seating in front and back is quite comfortable, steering takes a fair amount of winding, brakes are powerful. The transfer case is a part-time shift on the fly model.
For the test truck, Dodge included virtually all accessories, bringing the price from a base of $31,000 to $36,680.
