SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Car fires continue to flare up in San Francisco and the East Bay.
The latest incident occurred early Thursday morning, when a car was torched at 6th and Jesse Streets in San Francisco. A second vehicle burned as a result.
KCBS’ George Harris Reports
This follows similar incidents in the Sunset and Richmond districts, one this week, another earlier in the year.
"The Thursday fires have not been confirmed to be connected to the most recent fires in the avenues that have a similar MO," said San Francisco Fire Department spokeswoman Lt. Mindy Talmadge.
She says arson investigators have not dismissed the chance that there is a connection with recent auto fires in Contra Costa County, San Pablo, Richmond and El Sobrante.
"The agencies are definitely in contact with one another and checking to see if there are similarities," said Talmadge. "But at this point there is no connection."
So far there have been no injuries in the car fires.
